About the role

The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Supervisory Training Specialist. The Supervisory Training Specialist will function within the Employee/Patient Experience Service. This position manages the overall operation of the Workforce Development Section, following VHA Handbook 5015/1 Employee Learning and Professional Development, developing and/or revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of training operations. The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Supervisory Training Instructor. The Supervisory Training Instructor will function in Employee/Patient Care Service. The Supervisory Training Instructor duties include, but are not limited to: Assists the Service Chief in the development of short-and long-range plans, goals and objectives. Directs, controls, and coordinates two major unit activities in line with the expectations of the Chief, Employee/Patient Experience Service. Manages the overall operation of the Workforce Development Section, following VHA Handbook 5015/1 Employee Learning and Professional Development, developing and/or revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of training operations. Reviews all correspondence on its way to the Chief, Employee/Patient Experience Service for signature. Advises HR section supervisors in the completion of fulfilling human resources management responsibilities in the areas of New Supervisor Orientation (NSO) and New Employee Orientation (NEO), to include...implementation of a comprehensive education program that supports the development and achievement supervisors and new employees that support the Medical Center's mission, vision and values. Supports and facilitates as applicable VISN 10 New Supervisor Orientation (NSO) in-person or virtual programs, Co-Manages VISN-10 Leadership Development Institute (LDI), follow VHA and VISN guidance to conduct local in-person or support VISN virtual facility level leadership training. Plans, establishes, publicizes, and administers a program for new supervisors, utilizing Medical Center facilities and employees from Human Resource Management Service (HRMS) and other services as faculty. Develops and or revises station-wide education policies and procedures, based on VA/VHA/VISN directives, and management recommendations. Prepares final policy and procedure drafts for the Service Chief, or medical center executive leadership. Ensures the establishment and maintenance of professional relationships with tenant organizations, other VA entities, and other external Federal, state, and local organizations as necessary to fulfill the mission of Employee/Patient Experience Service. Provides advisory assistance to medical center leadership, service chiefs, managers, supervisors, and employees regarding education and procedures in line with the expectations of the Chief, Employee/Patient Experience Service. Reviews all educational program materials and project materials produced by education staff to assure adherence to Medical Center mission, vision and values as well as principles of adult learning. What we are looking for
