The PALACE Acquire Program offers you a permanent position upon completion of your formal training plan. As a Palace Acquire Intern you will experience both personal and professional growth while dealing effectively and ethically with change, complexity, and problem solving. The program offers a 3-year formal training plan with yearly salary increases. Promotions and salary increases are based upon your successful performance and supervisory approval. GS Series 0801/0806/0830/0840/0850/0854/0855/0861/0893/0896 Performs (general, material, computer, mechanical, electrical, electronics, aerospace) engineering tasks of limited scope and difficulty which are screened by a higher-grade engineer. Performs general engineering work of limited scope and complexity in support of projects assigned to higher grade engineers. Uses engineering manuals, standard publications and technical material to obtain information and pertinent data to be used by higher level engineers, contractors and/or customers. Keep abreast of emerging technologies and professional development to maintain current in the field and for application to work assignments. GS Series 0858 Uses professional knowledge of biomedical engineering to perform difficult, but well-precedented assignments which are normally minor phases of a broader project assigned to a higher-grade engineer. Participates with senior personnel in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives. uses computer/computer software such as information management programs, computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs, and tracking programs to assist senior personnel in solving engineering or scientific problems and facilitate the work. Uses engineering manuals, standards publications and technical material to obtain information and pertinent data to be used by higher level engineers, contractors and/or customers.

This is accomplished by recruiting & selecting high-caliber candidates & training them to become competent, effective, & productive employees in a variety of career fields; providing training & developmental opportunities, & preparing them to successfully complete required training & developmental assignments. *This is a formal AF intern position in the Recent Palace Acquire Program (PAQ) and, as such, it is centrally funded by HQ AFPC/DPZS. GS-07: Performs work as a physicist in support of conventional projects assigned to higher level scientists. Performs work as a physicist of limited scope and complexity in support of projects assigned to higher grade scientists. Plans work procedures and selects standard practices and data to be applied to work projects and identified problems. Researches scientific information through a variety of data sources and scientific disciplines. Carries out special assignments designed to facilitate the full use of and enhance the intern's training and development. GS-09: Plans and conducts own work procedures to be applied in support of projects assigned to higher grade physicists. Performs scientific assignments consisting of a series of interrelated tasks or problems screened by a higher grade physicist. Assists higher grade physicists in finding solutions for problems requiring a variety of data sources and scientific disciplines. Develops written summaries to be used by higher level physicists, contractors, and/or customers. Presents briefings or presentations as required. Keeps abreast of emerging techniques and professional developments to remain current in the scientific field for application to work assignment

GS-07 Performs developmental assignments in the application of professional principles, techniques, methods, and procedures relating to the investigation, analysis, and interpretation of the composition, molecular structure, and properties of substances. Performs recurring assignments. Independently performs recurring assignments of limited, but gradually increasing, difficulty and complexity as directed by the supervisor or team lead. Participates in special initiatives, studies, and projects. Works with other specialists to plan, perform research, and conduct special initiatives, studies, and projects. Prepares written correspondence and other documentation. Drafts or prepares a variety of documents to include responses to routine inquiries, reports, letters, and other related material. GS-09 Performs developmental assignments in the application of professional principles, techniques, methods, and procedures relating to the investigation, analysis, and interpretation of the composition, molecular structure, and properties of substances, the transformations which they undergo, and the amounts of matter and energy included in these transformations. Performs recurring assignments. Incumbent determines the practices and procedures to use in accomplishing conventional tasks, and interprets and adapts guidelines in order to resolve procedural or factual issues Carries out special projects and participates in special initiatives and studies. Works with other specialists in planning and conducting studies. Prepares written correspondence and other documentation. Drafts or prepares a variety of documents to include newsletter items, responses to routine inquiries, reports, letters, and other related documents.
