The primary purpose of this position is to exercise supervisory and managerial authorities over the assigned organization. Responsible for performing professional engineering and management work in support of projects/programs pertaining to the organization. 1) Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short/long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. 2) Serves as technical advisor responsible for all systems engineering activities required for the assigned mission and/or the design, development, production, test, and support of assigned systems. As a Nuclear Engineer, NN-0840-04, you will: Lead and provide expert engineering support across the lifecycle of naval nuclear propulsion plants, including research, development, design, acquisition, specification, construction, inspection, installation, certification, testing, overhaul, refueling, operations, maintenance, supply support, and ultimate disposition. Adverse weather conditions often require the incumbent to work hours longer than the usual shift, adding to mental and physical stress.
