The primary purpose of this position is to exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over a Child Development Center program by planning, organizing, coordinating, and overseeing the day-to-day operations. Provides oversight of a variety of developmental services through center based programs of full daycare, hourly care and special needs care. 1. Exercise 2nd level (or higher) technical and administrative supervisory personnel management responsibilities for 25% or more during duty time. 2. Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of a Child Development Center, ensuring the programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. 3. Develops, administers and evaluates an ongoing program of individual and group developmental and educational activities for staff implementation and execution. 4. Responsible for the financial operation of the Child Development Program, the facilities, grounds, equipment, health and safety.

Incentives may be paid. Provides appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth, ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years in Child and Youth Services (CYS) programs. Actively supervises and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth during daily routines, indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings, and special events. Assists in implementing planned, developmentally appropriate activities, schedules, and routines for children/youth using prepared curriculum, activity plans, and materials which includes group and individual activities. Helps arrange for or serve appropriate snacks or meals. Identifies and responds to emergency situations including evacuations, child/youth illness, and physical and emotional needs.

Performs tasks to assist the child development center director/assistant director in developing, administering, and evaluating on-going programs of age-appropriate individual and group educational activities for children. Performs tasks to assist training and curriculum specialists in developing age-appropriate activity plans for children 6 weeks through 12 years of age. Assists in conducting training for Child Development Program Assistants (CDPAS) and clerical staff using prescribed and/or locally developed curriculum, materials, and resources to meet the needs of individual staff members. Performs tasks to assist in providing advice to the Family Day Care Coordinator on necessary training of family day care providers and other staff; assists in providing training; and assists in the development of training tools. Helps select, compile, and maintain a training and resource library for the child development program. Performs tasks to assist in the direction of cooks, food service workers, and custodial staff.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties related to youth flight direction and administration and to complete development assignments and training outlined in the formal management trainee training and development plan. Performs developmental assignments in the application of professional principles, techniques, methods, and procedures used to provide youth programs and services that meet community needs. Assists the Youth Center Director to ensure a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment exists in the Youth Programs facilities, grounds, playgrounds, and sports fields and that security and maintenance is monitored. Assists the Youth Center Director in managing appropriated funds (APF) and non-appropriated funds (NAF), and funds from other sources. Conducts special assignments in keeping with the formal training plan.
