About the role

Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information. Telework availability is limited and will only be provided on a rare case-by-case basis during situations where Agency Leadership has determined that telework serves a compelling DoD need. Accurately maintains the accounting and reporting system for all accountable and non-accountable property/equipment. Conducts physical inventories of equipment as required by regulations and maintains all inventory records. Prepares requisitions/orders for all accountable and non-accountable property/equipment. Resolves problems with delivery and lead times in order to meet customers' needs. Manages, accounts for and distributes accountable and non-accountable equipment/property. Prepares and reviews the documentation for equipment/property items being delivered to the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). Ensures clerical correctness and conformance to regulations in the preparation of all supply and/or property source documents, invoices, and supporting papers. This position requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities during inventories.

What we are looking for

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-04) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Performing a range of clerical assignments and resolving associated problems; investigating and reconciling routine and recurring discrepancies relating to actions such as receipt control and inventory adjustments; or applying requisitioning and stock control procedures and regulations. A minimum typing proficiency of 40 WPM is required. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.
