About the role
As a Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist at the GS-0080-13, you will be part of Facilities, Security and Emergency Mgmt, Office of Personnel Management. If selected, you will oversee personnel vetting and credentialing operations, supervise staff, manage personnel security systems and contracts, and ensure security programs and processes comply with applicable requirements.
Oversees personnel vetting and Personal Identity Verification credentialing operations, including processing, issuance, eligibility determinations, and program reporting. Reviews investigations and continuous vetting information and makes suitability, fitness, credentialing, and national security determinations. Supervises personnel by assigning work, evaluating performance, providing coaching and training, addressing performance issues, and managing section resources.
Analyzes personnel security policies, regulations, and operational requirements and recommends or implements changes to program procedures and processes. Oversees personnel security service contracts, including acquisition support, contractor performance, invoices, funding, and compliance with contract requirements. Oversees personnel security databases and coordinates with information technology stakeholders on system enhancements, automation, testing, and new capabilities.
What we are looking for
For the GS 13: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service, or equivalent, performing personnel security work that includes: Reviewing background investigations, continuous vetting information, or related records and making or recommending suitability, fitness, credentialing, or national security determinations;
Implementing personnel security or identity credentialing policies, procedures, or operational requirements and identifying actions needed to address program or processing issues;
Leading, reviewing, or coordinating the work of personnel performing personnel security, vetting, adjudication, or identity credentialing functions;
Monitoring personnel security program operations through workload data, metrics, quality reviews, or reports and recommending actions to address identified issues; and Coordinating personnel security program requirements involving contracts, information systems, system enhancements, or other operational resources with internal or external stakeholders.
Merit promotion applicants must meet the time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
