About the role
You will be in a field office of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and serve as a supervisor of FMCSA field operations. You will serve as a key spokesperson and representative on Motor Carrier Safety and related highway safety matters.
As a Supervisory Motor Carrier Safety Specialist (Field Office Supervisor), you will: Be responsible for promoting and enforcing the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations, and other applicable regulations thereby contributing to a reduction in injury, loss of life, and property damage involving interstate or foreign motor carriers/shippers.
Be responsible for planning, supervising and assisting with audits, compliance reviews and investigations of motor carrier operations within the United States. Manage and direct a program segment that performs inspection, auditing, and compliance review work for field activities. Provide program direction and oversight of activities conducted by a staff of Motor Carrier Safety Specialists; assignments consist of planning and assigning work to be accomplished by subordinates, evaluating the work performed by the subordinates, providing advice and instructions, identifying training needs, hearing or resolving subordinate complaints, effecting minor discipline and recommending action in more serious cases.

What we are looking for
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration. To qualify for the GS-13 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-12 it must include: Experience applying laws and/or regulations interpretations, involving critical issues related to motor carrier safety and/or the Federal compliance enforcement program, including those concerned with hazardous materials.
Experience in planning or managing and/or evaluating Motor Carrier Safety programs. Experience with interpreting and analyzing motor carrier laws and regulations.
