About the role

The primary purpose of this position is: as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) manages the day to day Aerial Port Squadron activities and serve as senior representative in lieu of unit commander. Provides advice and guidance to the Wing, Group and Squadron Commanders. Accomplishes a variety of tasks ensuring reservists are properly trained and equipped to ultimately meet unit's capability to perform assigned mission. Provides development, training, and deployment of reserve personnel. Duties: 1: As the senior ART, plans, organizes, and manages the day-to-do activities of the Aerial Port squadron. 2: Manages the day-to-day unit deployment and mobility programs for assigned UTCs and assists with planning for current and future taskings. 3: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Serves as single point of contact for day-to-day unit budget/financial issues. 4: Represents the unit at a variety of installation and functional capacities and also oversees various Aerial Port Squadron related support programs.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Transportation Specialist Series 2101. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position to be filled. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of Aerial Port missions, practices, procedures, policies, guidelines, instructions, and requirements. Knowledge of Aerial Port transportation principles, concepts, practices, and techniques, including specific emphasis on Aerial Port operations applied to various issues and assignments. NOTE: Must be reflected in your resume. OR EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of college transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERALTIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-10 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
