REVIEW THE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BELOW FOR FURTHER DETAILS General Manager Duties: As a Front Line Manager you will: Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Evaluate work performance of subordinates and makes recommendations for outstanding performance recognition and/or disciplinary action. Coordinates function with Counsel and Operating Division officials as required to review workflow, procedures, and training to ensure proper administration of the law. Maintains effective relationships with managers and employees at all levels of the Appeals organization, and with taxpayers or taxpayer representatives. Interacts with taxpayers and representatives to determine and meet customer expectations. Holds conferences and negotiates issues to resolve tax disputes. Conducts legal research and makes reasoned judgments on matters of fact and law. Evaluates the strength of the litigating position of contesting parties and negotiates case resolutions. Facilitates the success of the team members in promoting customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and business results. Approves settlements for cases that exceed team members' settlement authority. Ensures team member settlements and team objectives comply with appeals vision and values. Analyzes new laws to determine possible impacts on Appeals' inventory and processes. Develops current and new tax law training, IRM sections, and guidelines/desk guides for the team as well as for all Appeals, Compliance, and Chief Counsel. Reviews new regulations, technical changes, and recent case law to assure controls are in place to properly administer new laws and ensure fair and equitable settlement of tax controversies.
